Letter to Wide Bay Chapter
Dear Sirs
I would like to you to know how grateful I am to three of your members that I met while participating in the Long Ride 2010.
My husband (Barry) and I were participating in The Long Ride 2010 to Darwin for The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Unfortunately 20 kms out of Kynuna in central Queensland, Barry was knocked off his bike by a four-wheel driver towing a caravan. Fortunately Barry lived (with a bit less skin) to tell the tale but his bike didn't fair to well and we thought that this would be the finish of our journey.
We managed to get the bike to Kynuna, where we came across three of your members, Avachat, Bugsy and Patches. Without a second thought they were out to the bike and working on it to straighten it up and making it rideable again. I also noticed that they kept an eye on Barry for the next couple of days but not an in your face way, they were just never far away.
Thanks to these three wonderful people, we were able to complete the ride. The help and compassion they showed was what you would receive from genuine friends and I hope they don't mind me saying I now class them as friends.
You should be proud of the effort Avachat, Bugsy and Patches put in, not only riding for a great cause but the way they represented your organisation. Everyone we talked to would comment on what wonderful people they were.
Barry and I have already decided that we want to be part of future rides for the Prostate Foundation of Australia and we are hoping to meet up with Avachat (who is appropriately named by the way), Bugsy and Patches again. Maybe on the next event we will have the pleasure of meeting more of your members.
I know I thanked them plenty of times for what they have done for Barry but I feel you can never say thank you enough for a good deed. So if you could pass on our sincere thanks again to all three of them that would be great.
Regards
Maria Cook
